LG microwave error codes: a sensor, a stuck key, or the lock.

An LG microwave prints few codes — a sensor, a key held down, and the control lock people mistake for a fault. Find the code below, take the checks in order, and clear it with the reset in the strip above. The parts inside a microwave hold a charge after it is unplugged, so nothing past the outlet is a home repair.

Covers: 2015-and-newer LG over-the-range microwaves (LMV, LMVH, LMHM and the LG Studio models).

The code as the display prints it; an older spelling sits under it on the card.

Before you clear it

LG prints two-letter codes (OE, IE, dE, UE). A lower-case letter is the display's own shape, not a different code.

1

LG prints F- and a number (F-1, F-3) and stops the cycle. Press Stop/Clear to silence it; the code comes back if the fault stands.

2

The reset: unplug the microwave for one full minute — the plug is in the cabinet above the microwave, behind the cabinet's floor panel or at its back — then plug it in, set the clock and try a cup of water for one minute.

3

A microwave with no display and no light is the outlet or the fuse inside: try another appliance in the cabinet outlet. A dead outlet is an electrician's; a blown internal fuse is a technician's, never a home job.

4

The model and serial plate is inside the door frame on the left side, visible when the door is open. Every warranty call starts with those two numbers.

Oven temperature sensor

What it means

The sensor that reads the air inside the cooking cavity is open or shorted, so the sensor-cook and auto settings cannot run.

Check first
  1. Reset (unplug one minute) and run a cup of water for one minute on high.
  2. If plain timed cooking works and only the sensor settings (Sensor Cook, Reheat, Popcorn) print the code, it is the sensor alone.
The fix

An F-1 that returns is the cavity sensor — a part inside the cabinet, a technician's job. Timed cooking still works meanwhile.

Stop & call

F-1 after a reset is a service call. The microwave still cooks on timed settings while you wait.

Code

Key stuck

What it means

The control sees a key held down for longer than it allows.

Check first
  1. Wipe the panel dry — grease from the range below and a wet rag both hold a key down.
  2. Press each key once and feel for one that does not spring back.
  3. Reset (unplug one minute).
The fix

A key that stays stuck after cleaning is the touch panel — a part, a technician's job.

Loc#3

Also printed as L · Lock

Fix at home
Code

Control lock is on

What it means

Not a fault. The panel is locked so a child cannot start the microwave; the display reads Loc (or L, or the lock icon) and the keys do nothing.

Check first
  1. Press and hold Stop/Clear (on some models Start) for four seconds until the lock clears.
The fix

The lock turns off and the panel answers again.

When it's a warranty call

Every unit leaves with the manufacturer's full factory warranty. The codes below name a part inside the machine — once the checks have ruled out the install, the power and the hoses, call LG's line with the model and serial, and text us if you want a hand with the claim.

All units are surplus inventory (open box, cancelled order, customer return, overstock, or minor scratch & dent). Every unit includes the manufacturer's full factory warranty. Please inspect thoroughly in person before purchasing — cosmetic imperfections or missing accessories are possible.

Still stuck?

Text us the model number and what it's doing — we'll point you at the next step.

A fix, a part, or a warranty call — the plate's model and serial plus one line about the symptom is all it takes to tell which.

These pages are educational. Every appliance is a little different — follow the manufacturer's manual and local code, and leave gas, water heater and 240V work to a licensed installer.
