Error codes · Midea · Ranges & ovens

Midea range & oven error codes: it prints no code table — the display's words are the whole list.

Midea's range books print no table of F codes. They say only that a code on the display is cleared by cycling the breaker, and that a code that stays or comes back is written down and called in. So this page is the states the display can show that are not faults — the Control Lock, the demo mode, the locked door after a self-clean — and the one rule for any code it prints.

Covers: 2020-and-newer Midea freestanding and slide-in ranges (MES30S2, MES30S4 electric; MGS30S2, MGS30S4 gas; MER30S2).

Before you clear it

Midea prints E codes (E1, E2) and letter codes on laundry (OE, LE); a code with no match here is the model's manual.

1

Any error code on a Midea range: switch the range's breaker off for one full minute, switch it back on and set the clock. A code that comes straight back is real — write it down exactly as the display prints it, with the model and serial, and file it. Midea publishes no table to read it against.

2

The display reads CONTROL LOCK when the panel is locked. A panel that is on but ignores every press is this nine times in ten; the second cause is a control that needs the breaker reset above.

3

A gas range: a smell of gas is never a wait-and-see. Turn the gas off at the valve behind the range, open the room, and call the gas company. Gas work is a licensed installer's.

4

An electric range runs on 240V. A range with lights and a clock but no heat, or heat on the cooktop and none in the oven, is usually one leg of the double breaker tripped — push it fully off, then on, once. The cord block and the outlet are an electrician's.

5

The model and serial plate is on the frame behind the storage drawer, or inside the door frame at the bottom. Every warranty call starts with those two numbers.

Control Lock#1
Fix at home
Code

Control Lock is on

What it means

Not a fault. The panel is locked so a child cannot turn the oven on; the display reads CONTROL LOCK and every press is ignored.

Check first
  1. Press and hold the button marked Lock (Control Lock) for three seconds until the words leave the display.
The fix

The panel answers again. If it still ignores every press, switch the breaker off for one minute and back on.

Demo#2

Fix at home
Code

Demo (sales) mode

What it means

Not a fault. The panel lights and the controls answer but no cooking mode will start — the mode a store floor uses. It is set from the settings menu, usually by accident.

Check first
  1. The display or the settings menu shows Demo on. The oven accepts a temperature and never heats.
The fix

Open the settings menu (the book names the button to hold) and turn Demo off, or switch the breaker off for one minute and check the setting again when the range comes back.

Door locked#3

Code

Oven door locked after self-clean

What it means

Not a fault. The door lock holds the oven shut through a self-clean and for as long as the oven is hot afterwards — up to an hour after the cycle ends.

Check first
  1. Wait. The lock releases by itself once the oven has cooled; do not pull on the door.
  2. A door still locked with the oven cold: switch the breaker off for one minute and back on.
The fix

A door that stays locked with the oven cold after the breaker reset has a lock motor or switch that is not releasing — a part a technician replaces. Do not force the door.

Stop & call

A door locked on a cold oven after the reset is a service call on the door lock. Leave the range off until it is seen.

When it's a warranty call

Every unit leaves with the manufacturer's full factory warranty. The codes below name a part inside the machine — once the checks have ruled out the install, the power and the hoses, call Midea's line with the model and serial, and text us if you want a hand with the claim.

Nothing on this page is a straight service call — every code here starts with a check you can make.

All units are surplus inventory (open box, cancelled order, customer return, overstock, or minor scratch & dent). Every unit includes the manufacturer's full factory warranty. Please inspect thoroughly in person before purchasing — cosmetic imperfections or missing accessories are possible.

Still stuck?

Text us the model number and what it's doing — we'll point you at the next step.

A fix, a part, or a warranty call — the plate's model and serial plus one line about the symptom is all it takes to tell which.

These pages are educational. Every appliance is a little different — follow the manufacturer's manual and local code, and leave gas, water heater and 240V work to a licensed installer.
