Error codes · Hisense · Ranges & ovens

Hisense range & oven error codes: it prints Err and a number, and most of them are the board or the oven sensor.

A Hisense range prints Err and a three-digit number, and the book gives every one the same first move — power off at the breaker for a few minutes, then on — because most of them are the control finding a fault in itself. Two are a person's: the touch panel that needs wiping, and the cooktop turned on during a self-clean. Find the code below, try the reset, and read the strip above the table for the lock and the Sabbath mode.

Covers: 2020-and-newer Hisense freestanding ranges — the HBE3501 electric and the HBG gas models on the same control.

Hisense · First

Before you clear it

Hisense prints E codes on the refrigerator panel (E1, E2) and F codes on a range.

1

The code reads Err 001, Err 003 and so on in the display. When the range is first powered up, DOOR LOCK lights for a few seconds — that is the control checking its lock, not a fault.

2

The reset for every Err code: switch the range's breaker off for a few minutes (two is enough), switch it back on and set the clock. A code that comes straight back is real; a code that stays gone was a one-off.

3

The Child Lock holds every key and the door lock on a model with one: press and hold the Child Lock key for three seconds to set it and three seconds to clear it. A locked panel beeps at every touch.

4

The Sabbath mode is set in the settings menu: only Bake runs, the light stays off with the door open, and every sound is off — it looks like a range that has stopped answering. It is in the table.

5

A gas range: a smell of gas is never a wait-and-see. Turn the gas off at the valve behind the range, open the room, and call the gas company. Gas and 240V work are a licensed installer's. The model and serial plate is on the frame behind the lower drawer or inside the door frame.

The oven, the door and the heat

Oven temperature sensor

What it means

The sensor in the back wall of the oven is reading open or shorted — the control cannot see the oven's temperature and will not heat.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on, then set a Bake and see whether it heats.
  2. Look at the sensor — the thin metal probe at the top back of the oven cavity. One knocked sideways by a rack or a pan, or with a loose connection behind it, prints this.
The fix

An Err 001 that returns is the oven temperature sensor or its connector — a part a technician replaces through the back of the oven. The cooktop still runs meanwhile.

Stop & call

Err 001 after a reset is a service call. Write the code down, note the model and serial, and file it; under warranty it is a warranty call.

Self-clean door lock

What it means

The door lock did not lock, or did not report locked, when the self-clean asked for it. The clean will not start without it.

Check first
  1. Stop the self-clean, wait until the door unlocks, and start it again.
  2. The door is fully shut with nothing in the gasket — a rack left in the oven, or a towel on the door, keeps the lock from seating.
  3. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

A shut door and a second try clear a one-off. An Err 006 that returns is the lock motor or its switch — a part behind the control panel, a technician's job. Baking still works meanwhile.

Stop & call

Err 006 on a second self-clean after a reset is a service call on the door lock.

Control panel too hot

What it means

The sensor behind the touch panel read it hotter than the control allows — a pot sitting over the panel, a kitchen in a heat wave, or the sensor itself.

Check first
  1. Move pots off the back burners and away from the panel; a wide pot on a rear burner sends heat straight up the panel.
  2. The kitchen is not far above room temperature; let the range cool with the oven door open.
  3. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

A cooled panel clears it. An Err 005 that returns in a cool kitchen with the pots moved is the panel's sensor — a part, a technician's.

Stop & call

Err 005 that comes back cool is a service call on the control panel.

Power board too hot

What it means

The sensor on the power board behind the range read it hotter than the control allows — the range is boxed in with no air, the kitchen is very hot, or the sensor itself.

Check first
  1. The range has air behind and beside it — not pushed hard against a wall or a cabinet side that blocks the vents.
  2. Let the range cool, then switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

Air and a reset clear it. An Err 008 that returns with the range cool and the vents clear is the power board's sensor or the board — a technician's.

Stop & call

Err 008 that comes back cool is a service call on the power board.

Cooktop turned on during self-clean

What it means

Not a fault in the range. A cooktop element was switched on while the self-clean was running, and the control stopped the clean.

Check first
  1. Turn every cooktop element off and check the knobs are at Off.
The fix

Start the self-clean again with the cooktop off. The cooktop is not used during a self-clean.

Boards not talking

What it means

The touch panel and the power board behind the range lost communication with each other. A loose harness, or one of the boards.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes, switch it on and set the clock.
The fix

An Err 003 that comes back is the harness between the boards or a board itself — a service call. Nothing to check at home beyond the reset.

Stop & call

Err 003 after a reset is a service call. Both boards are inside the range; under warranty it is a warranty call.

Touch panel fault

What it means

The panel sees a touch it cannot read — a key held down, water or grease on the glass, or the touch sensor itself.

Check first
  1. Wipe the panel with a dry cloth; water, grease or a towel laid over it holds a key.
  2. Nothing is leaning on the panel.
  3. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

A clean, dry panel clears it. An Err 004 that returns on a clean panel is the touch sensor — the panel assembly, a technician's job.

Stop & call

Err 004 that comes back on a clean, dry panel is a service call on the control panel.

Power board relay supply

What it means

The power board is not getting the supply its relays need — the house voltage is off, or the board is the fault.

Check first
  1. An electric range: both halves of the double breaker are on; a breaker that looks on but sits a hair off center has tripped on one leg — push it fully off, then on.
  2. The lights in the room do not dim when the oven starts; if they do, the problem is the house wiring or the outlet — an electrician's.
  3. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

A sound supply and a reset clear it. An Err 007 that returns on a range wired straight to a sound outlet is the power board — a service call, never something to keep resetting.

Stop & call

Err 007 on a sound 240V supply after a reset is a service call on the power board.

Power board fault

What it means

The control found a fault in the power board's own timing (the zero-cross circuit). The board is the part.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for a few minutes, switch it on and set the clock.
The fix

An Err 015 that comes back is the power board — a service call.

Stop & call

Err 015 after a reset is a service call. Under warranty it is a warranty call.

Section 3 of 3

Not a fault

Child Lock#10
Fix at home
Code

Child Lock is on

What it means

Not a fault. Every key is held so a child cannot turn the oven on, and on a model with a door lock the door is held too; the panel beeps at every touch.

Check first
  1. Press and hold the Child Lock key for three seconds until the display unlocks.
The fix

The panel answers again. The Child Lock cannot be set while the Sabbath mode is on.

DOOR LOCK#11

Also printed as Door Lock

Fix at home
Code

Door lock check at power-up

What it means

Not a fault. DOOR LOCK lights on the panel for the first few seconds after the range is powered up while the control checks its lock, and it stays lit through a self-clean and until the oven has cooled.

Check first
  1. Wait. After a power-up it clears in seconds; after a self-clean it clears once the oven is cool — up to an hour.
  2. A door still locked with the oven cold: switch the breaker off for a few minutes and back on.
The fix

A door that stays locked on a cold oven after the reset is the lock motor or its switch — a technician's job. Do not force the door.

SABBATH#12

Also printed as Sabbath

Fix at home
Code

Sabbath mode is on

What it means

Not a fault. Only Bake runs, the oven light stays off even with the door open, every sound is off and the Child Lock and the Warm function are out of reach. After a power failure the range returns to Sabbath mode without heating.

Check first
  1. The display shows SABBATH. The oven bakes at its set temperature and answers nothing else.
The fix

Open the settings menu, choose SET SABBATH and turn it off (the book names the key). The range answers again.

Warranty · When to file

When it's a warranty call

Every unit leaves with the manufacturer's full factory warranty. The codes below name a part inside the machine — once the checks have ruled out the install, the power and the hoses, call Hisense's line with the model and serial, and text us if you want a hand with the claim.

All units are surplus inventory (open box, cancelled order, customer return, overstock, or minor scratch & dent). Every unit includes the manufacturer's full factory warranty. Please inspect thoroughly in person before purchasing — cosmetic imperfections or missing accessories are possible.

Still stuck?

Text us the model number and what it's doing — we'll point you at the next step.

A fix, a part, or a warranty call — the plate's model and serial plus one line about the symptom is all it takes to tell which.

These pages are educational. Every appliance is a little different — follow the manufacturer's manual and local code, and leave gas, water heater and 240V work to a licensed installer.
