Error codes · Frigidaire · Ranges & ovens

Frigidaire range & oven error codes: a sensor, a door lock, or a board — and one that means breaker off.

Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional ranges run one oven control, and it prints an F code when the oven sees something wrong. The list is short: the oven sensor, the door lock, the keypad, the boards — and F10, which is the one you act on before you read anything else. The cooktop side of an electric or induction range has its own two codes. Find the code below; a few clear at home, the rest are a technician's.

Covers: 2015-and-newer freestanding electric (FFEF3054, FCRE3052, FGEF3036, FPEF3077), gas (FFGF3054, FCRG3052, FGGF3036, FPGF3077) and induction (FFIH3054, FGIH3047) ranges, and the FGEH3047 and FGGH3047 slide-ins.

Before you clear it

Frigidaire prints E codes (E10, E21, E41) and F codes on ranges (F10, F30). The code history is read from the control's own diagnostic mode.

1

The oven prints an F code and beeps (F10, F30, F90). Press OFF (or Cancel) to silence it; the code comes back the next time the oven is asked to do the thing that failed.

2

The reset: switch the range's breaker off for 30 seconds and back on (a plug-in gas range: unplug it). A code that comes straight back is real.

3

F10 is different: the oven is heating when it should not be. Turn the breaker off and leave it off — the range is not used until the sensor or the board is replaced.

4

A dash (–) in the display is the cooktop lock on an electric range; PF is a power blip; SAb is Sabbath mode; a padlock icon is the oven lock (press OFF and hold 6 seconds to release it). None of these is a fault.

5

The model and serial plate is on the frame behind the storage drawer or the warming drawer — pull the drawer out and look at the front frame, or along the left side of the oven door opening. Every warranty call starts with those two numbers.

Runaway temperature

What it means

The control saw the oven heating faster or higher than the setting allows — or heating with nothing set. The oven sensor has shorted, or a relay on the board has stuck on.

Check first
  1. Turn the range's breaker off now. If the oven is hot with nothing set, it stays off until it is fixed.
  2. After 30 seconds, turn the breaker back on and watch the display with the oven off: F10 again within a few minutes, or heat with no setting, is the board; F10 only when you start a bake is more often the sensor.
The fix

The oven temperature sensor (the probe at the top back of the oven cavity) or the oven control board — a technician's part either way. The range is not used until it is replaced.

Stop & call

F10 is stop-and-call: an oven that heats on its own is a fire risk. Turn the breaker off and leave it off; on a machine under warranty this is a warranty service call, made the same day you see the code.

Oven sensor open

What it means

The oven temperature sensor reads open — the control sees no sensor. The oven will not heat without one.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on, then set a bake. F30 that returns at once is the sensor or its plug.
The fix

The oven temperature sensor at the top back of the cavity, or its connector behind the back panel — a technician's part. The cooktop still works meanwhile.

Stop & call

F30 after a reset is a service call. On a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call.

Oven sensor shorted

What it means

The oven temperature sensor reads shorted. Same part as F30, failed the other way.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on, then set a bake.
The fix

The oven temperature sensor or its wiring — a technician's part. If the oven heated on its own before the code, treat it as F10 and leave the breaker off.

Stop & call

F31 after a reset is a service call. Leave the breaker off if the oven was heating with nothing set; on a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call.

Door lock fault

What it means

The self-clean door lock did not move the way the control asked — it did not lock, did not unlock, or the switch that says where it sits is not answering. The number after the 9 names which step.

Check first
  1. The oven is cool. The lock will not release while the cavity is hot after a self-clean — wait for it.
  2. Nothing is caught in the door — a rack rail or a sheet pan edge keeps the door from seating so the lock cannot throw.
  3. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on; press OFF and hold 6 seconds.
The fix

A lock that is stuck after the oven is cool and the reset is the door lock motor and switch assembly — a technician's part. The oven bakes normally on most models while you wait; self-clean does not run until it is replaced.

Stop & call

A door that stays locked on a cool oven after the reset is a service call. Do not pry the door; on a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call.

The keypad and the boards

Shorted keypad

What it means

The control sees a key held down, or the keypad's ribbon is shorted. The range beeps and takes no key.

Check first
  1. Press OFF, then press each key once and feel for one that does not spring back.
  2. Wipe the panel — a spill or steam under the overlay holds a key down.
  3. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on.
The fix

A keypad that still reads shorted after the reset is the keypad or the control board behind it — a technician's part.

Control memory fault

What it means

The oven control failed its own memory check (F13), or could not identify itself at power-up (F12).

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on.
The fix

F12 or F13 that comes back is the oven control board — a technician's part.

Stop & call

A control memory code after a reset is a service call. On a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call.

Boards not talking

What it means

The oven control and the relay board (or the touch panel on a glass-panel model) lost communication with each other.

Check first
  1. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on; give the display a minute to wake.
The fix

A communication code that returns is one of the boards or the harness between them — a technician's part.

Stop & call

F3, F20 or F26 after a reset is a service call. On a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call; a range installed inside the last month goes back to its installer first.

Cooktop lock-out

What it means

On an electric or induction range the cooktop control has locked itself out — it saw a key held, a spill on the glass over the controls, or lost its link to the oven board.

Check first
  1. Wipe the glass over the cooktop controls dry and clear of pans and towels.
  2. Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on.
The fix

A cooktop that locks out again with a clean, dry control area is the cooktop control board — a technician's part. The oven keeps working meanwhile.

Stop & call

F40 or F41 that comes back after the reset is a service call. On a machine under warranty it is a warranty service call.

States, not faults

PF#9
Fix at home
Code

Power failure

What it means

Not a fault. The power went out and the clock lost its time; the oven will not start until the display is cleared.

Check first
  1. Press OFF (or Cancel) once, then set the clock.
The fix

Nothing to fix. PF with no outage is a loose plug, a breaker that is tripping, or a cord terminal working loose at the back — an electrician's look on a hard-wired range.

SAb#10

Also printed as SAB · Sb

Fix at home
Code

Sabbath mode

What it means

Not a fault. The oven holds a bake with no tones, no lights and no display changes; the display reads SAb and the cooktop and most keys do nothing.

Check first
  1. Press and hold the two keys the manual names for Sabbath mode (on most models Bake Time and Start Time, or the dedicated Sabbath key) for about 3 seconds until SAb goes out.
The fix

The range returns to normal. If SAb came on after an outage and the keys do not clear it, switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and try the keys again.

Warranty · When to file

When it's a warranty call

Every unit leaves with the manufacturer's full factory warranty. The codes below name a part inside the machine — once the checks have ruled out the install, the power and the hoses, call Frigidaire's line with the model and serial, and text us if you want a hand with the claim.

All units are surplus inventory (open box, cancelled order, customer return, overstock, or minor scratch & dent). Every unit includes the manufacturer's full factory warranty. Please inspect thoroughly in person before purchasing — cosmetic imperfections or missing accessories are possible.

Still stuck?

Text us the model number and what it's doing — we'll point you at the next step.

A fix, a part, or a warranty call — the plate's model and serial plus one line about the symptom is all it takes to tell which.

These pages are educational. Every appliance is a little different — follow the manufacturer's manual and local code, and leave gas, water heater and 240V work to a licensed installer.
